About Vive Nosara

A guide to Nosara written by someone who can't stop going back.

About Vive Nosara

Vive Nosara exists because most travel content about this town is either years out of date or written by someone who spent four days there once. We're not that.

What you'll find on Vive Nosara

Vive Nosara is an independent publication covering one place: Nosara, Costa Rica. Everything on this site, from hotel roundups to surf guides to restaurant recommendations to honest takes on whether it lives up to the hype, is built on real, repeated experience with the Nosara and everything it has to offer.

The goal is simple: whether you're planning your first trip, your fifth, or quietly researching what it would take to move there, you will be able to find straight answers and unique recommendations here.

Why Nosara?

Nosara sits on the Nicoya Peninsula in Guanacaste, one of the world's five Blue Zones. Blue Zones are places where people routinely live past 100, largely because of how they eat, move, and connect with their community. It also happens to have one of the most consistent surf breaks in Central America, a yoga scene that draws practitioners from around the world, and a stretch of coastline that feels genuinely wild.

It's not the easiest place to get to. The roads are famously rough. The dry season is dusty, and the green season is wet. And yet most people come once and start calculating how to come back.

That's the thing about Nosara, it gets under your skin in a way that's hard to explain and easy to understand once you've experienced it.

"Nosara has changed a lot over the years. One thing hasn't: it's still my favorite place on earth."

Hola! I'm Casandra.

Creator, Vive Nosara

I've been traveling to Costa Rica since 2015 and to Nosara specifically since 2018. I've watched the town grow and change a lot since then, but the most important things have stayed the same: a naturally beautiful landscape, world-class waves, and a community that works together to protect it.

Vive Nosara is where I put everything I've learned. Not a travel diary, not a personal blog, but a proper reference for people who spend time living in Nosara, whether that's 10 days, 10 months, or 10 years.
